Two core programs, one mission — ensuring no first responder or veteran faces their struggles alone. This is peer support, not clinical therapy.
Canine Scholarships
Funding and professional guidance to train your own personal dog as an off-duty service dog. We contract with VFR Veterans & First Responders Service Dog Training in Long Beach to provide the training. You build the bond — we cover the cost.

South Bay Roots
Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, El Segundo, Torrance, Palos Verdes — these are our neighborhoods. We live here, serve here, and show up here every day.
Expanding Reach
Long Beach, Signal Hill, and surrounding communities. We're building partnerships across the region — and actively working to launch a Pacific Northwest chapter with law enforcement agencies.
Small But Mighty
A three-member board supported by a dedicated advisory board. Two board members are active law enforcement. Our advisors include a licensed clinician, culturally competent to first responders and veterans, and a Master of Social Work with youth mentorship experience. 80+ years combined case management, 50+ years education, 15+ years curriculum design and delivery.

Licensed Clinician
Culturally competent to first responder and veteran populations — bringing clinical understanding to our peer support programs without crossing into clinical service. BCFF provides peer support, and our advisors help ensure it's done the right way.
Master of Social Work
Extensive experience in youth mentorship and community-based support — bridging generations and building the kind of programs that meet people where they are, whatever that looks like.

Deep experience with large federal grant compliance, reporting, and documentation — ensuring every BCFF program is built on a foundation of accountability and measurable results.

Mental health crisis and IDD response training, plus canine scholarships delivered through our contract with VFR.
Crisis & IDD Response Training
Specialized 8-hour, 16-hour, and 40-hour training for law enforcement agencies covering mental health crisis intervention and IDD response. Also available online.
